What is A Bold New Step!?
Dear Friends,
As a result of your generous gifts of dollars, time and talents, our church has built a wonderful facility to support worship, education and just plain fellowship. We praise God for what has happened here. But this is just the beginning - not the end. We are now launching A Bold New Step! Stewardship Program in the belief that we must reach up towards an even higher level of spiritual commitment and service.
To meet the twin objectives of our campaign of significantly growing our church’s commitment to missions and service, while significantly shrinking our mortgage liability, will be a great challenge - one that we won’t be able to achieve without God’s help. As Christians we are called by Jesus himself when he said, "as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me" to make ourselves the neighbors of all, no matter who they are. In response to His calling we propose to increase our commitment to missions and service in several important ways.
We will build on our successful Christian preschool ministry by making it more readily available to low income households who could not otherwise afford to have their children in the program. We would also like to broaden the program to address the needs of the entire family by offering a variety of educational and counseling programs. To further expand this ministry we will establish a new preschool in the Old Colorado City area, possibly collocated with Westside CARES, that is targeted directly at providing a Christian nurturing environment to low income families at a modest or no cost basis.
We will commit to becoming a more active and direct partner with the Westside CARES ministry in our local community. We will contribute directly to assist Westside CARES in their capital campaign to acquire an expanded facility that will allow them to increase services to those most in need. We will involve members of the church across all age groups in directly participating in offering Westside CARES services to our neighbors as counselors, case workers, food pantry workers, teachers and more.
Finally, we will become a substantial partner with one or more global ministries because our caring and sharing goes beyond our local community.
As you can see, the responses we make during this campaign can serve to define the future of our church and ourselves as Christians. We are confident that together, with God's blessing, we will succeed in turning this vision into reality!
May God bless us all,
- Terry and Carol Piddington, Campaign Directors
